In this podcast Tullio del Aquilla describes the horrible scenario we are facing: the use of monochromatic LEDs to enhance fluorescence in corals. The thought of people with 20000 K bulbs supplemented with these lights makes me sick!

There are already far too many what I call as “disco tanks” and the current trend of collecting more and more colorful corals and placing them all into the same tank has only made the situation worse. Previously ugly looking tanks were the ones that were not taken care of properly. Now that growing healthy corals is easy some people seem to like the tradition of the this look and are hunting down ludicrously expensive corals and completely loosing touch with good taste and natural look.

This all makes me very grumpy!

And by the way, the podcast is excellent and the guest explains the technology exceptionally well.
