Last week I received an animal shipment from Mrutzek Meeresaquaristik. Once again, Mrutzek Meeresaquaristik provided excellent service, something that is unfortunately not common in EU online shops.
All animals were in good condition although the Colopometra sp. crinoid was understandably damaged during the shipment. I’m happy to report that it is already recovering fast, I can see new growth daily.
One more thing about Mrutzek Meeresaquaristik: it seems like this is the only place you can get full range of invertebrates for reef aquariums. All the rest offer the same old Acanthastrea, Acropora, Montipora etc. Some don’t even have anything other than stony corals. As sad it is, Mrutzek Meeresaquaristik seems to be alone in its class and really the only option for serious aquarist.
In addition to animals pictured below I also received 6 Berghia verrucicornis, 5 Pseudanthias squamipinnis and 3 Pseudanthias dispar.

I also received a shipment Mrutzek just today. Excellent service and outstanding range of invertebrates. Only if logistic services were somewhere near in reliability and speed. DHL Finland did it again. The shipment was in Vantaa tuesday at 8.14. And it arrived Hollola (100 km from Vantaa) thursday at 9.20. Took over 48 hours to get here. And multiple calls from Mrutzek. That is speedy! Thanks DHL. Again.
Well to my surprise only minimal losts. One dead acro of course and red leg hermit. All the other animals alive! And Mrutzek immediately refund money for the losts. That I say is fantastic service.

The problem seems to always be the last leg of the journey. I once got a package that came from US to Finland in 36 hrs but then took 2 weeks to travel from Turku to Tampere. And yes, it was DHL!

Let’s hope that within a few years, most aquarists will understand that to mimick the ocean, we need more than powerful lights and streamers. We need food. Nutrition. High particle content, low dissolved content (nitrate, phosphate).

I agree 100% with you about feeding vs. dissolved nutrients. I think we now have everything we need to create a “real” reef aquariums instead of coral aquariums. I only hope the selection of invertebrates (other than corals) will gradually expand as more and more people are able to keep filter feeders and other “delicate” species that were considered impossible just a few years ago.
